Specimen Type

Specimen is collected from the vein in the baby’s umbilical cord into a heparinized syringe labled with the baby’s ID and specimen type.

1 ml of sample is preferred. 200 ul is the minimum volume

Specimen must be sent to the Lab immediately for testing, preferably within 10 minutes of collection.
